Gadyar and Ed walked into the corner and started conversing. Zane couldn’t hear what they said, but he got the feeling that it wasn’t good. After a while, they came back and took him upstairs like nothing happened. They entered a big, empty room. That’s when it happened again. He had a flashback to his dreams. They were going to do a test of magical ability. This must have been what the conversation was about.
“We’re going to test you for magical ability,” Gadyar said, right on cue. “This normally doesn’t happen, but because of your performance in the vision, we think it’s necessary. If you pass this test, you will forgo all others.”
“What will we do?” Zane asked even though he had a good idea already.
“You will lie down on the ground and focus on a weapon of your choice. It can look like whatever you want and be whatever type of weapon you want. If you are magical enough, then the weapon will appear and never leave your side. Half wizards are rare, so a summoning hasn’t happened in over a millenia. However, you will still be trained with this weapon, and will never use any other.”
Zane followed the instructions as the dream faded from his memory. When he attempted to picture the weapon however, he was at a loss. He tried to remember what he pictured in the dream, but he couldn’t. He had no training in fighting whatsoever, so he had no preference. He decided he would just close his eyes and let the image come to him. Numerous images flashed through his mind, but none seemed right. Until a image of a highly ordained sword appeared. It was made of a shiny metal that he intuitively knew to be stronger than any mortal one. The hilt was inlayed with all sorts of gems. He got the feeling that this was an ancient weapon designed for him specifically. Suddenly, he heard a voice in his head.
“You can sense the power?” The voice intruded. It sounded more ancient and wise than anything he had ever heard. He didn’t want to speak aloud, so he attempted to answer with his mind.
“Yes,” he thought, and was startled when the voice answered.
“I thought you might. I sent this image of the blade to you to see if you could recognize it. The tests Gadyar had planned for you will prove nothing if you can produce this blade. It has been lost to the ages for uncountable eons. Since before the great war. You must focus on the image, and then say the words I send to your head. Understood?”
“Yes, but who or what are you?”
“I can’t tell you now, but all will be revealed in due time. After Gadyar accepts you, you will go to train with the soilders. I will tell you what to do from there when I contact you again.”
Suddenly, the presence vanished. Zane was left with only the image and the words, alva cal. He attempted to follow the instructions, so he focused on the image until he could resolve it in great detail. The hilt was carved with engravings of dragons. The blade itself had ilegible characters older than time itself. He felt the power of the blade rush through him as he spoke the words.
“Alva cal”
His eyes snapped open against his own discretion. A blinding light flashed through the room. The light went out. The only thing left in the room, was the sword and Zane. He looked around, but saw no one. He was quite startled, but shook it off, walked over, and picked up the sword. He felt the incredible power of the sword wash through him once again. He got the feeling that he shouldn’t carry the sword out in the open, so he sheathed it. He walked over to the door, but before he could reach it, Gadyar walked in. Gadyar failed to notice him, and walked into the room along with Ed.
“Where did he go?” Gadyar asked.
“The magic might have ate away at his body completely,” Ed responded.
“Well, I guess that means no cleanup.”
“Yea, but I had such high hopes that he would be the one.”
That’s when Zane walked out from behind the door.
“What are you guys talking about?” he asked.
“What are you doing here?! We thought you died. It’s been over a day.”
“What do you mean. I pictured the weapon, and summoned it.”
“The feat of magic must have drained you, but if you summoned it, then let us see it.”
Zane set his hand on the hilt of the sword, and once again felt the power rush through him. He drew the blade.
“Is that—”
“It is.”
“But it can’t be. That weapon is just a legend.”
“You said I could picture whatever weapon I wanted.”
“Yes, but...but let me hold it. Verify its authenticity.”
Zane sensed that Gadyar had bad intentions, and allowing the blade to enter his hands would be a bad idea.
“I’m afraid I can’t do that,” Zane said.
“Why not. I am the one who will host you. Train you. It would be common courtesy!”
The voice came to him again. All time froze, and he was left with only the voice. “I was wondering when you would wake up. It has been a day as they said. You must not allow Gadyar to get the weapon at all costs. He will use it to take over all of Algasia. I can’t believe I didn’t see if before. A dark power has corrupted his mind, and he will stop at nothing to win. He is the great evil you have come here to destroy. Take Ed. He swore an oath to protect you, and he will. You must learn how to use the sword. As I’m sure you guessed, it is not an ordinary sword. You must figure out most of the secrets yourself, but I will tell you this. The sword will guide your movements, and requires very little training. Let it take hold when you fight, but maintain power over it or you will corrupt. Now I will unfreeze time. You must seek me at the castle you saw in the vision. Ed will know how to get there. Now go.”
Time snapped back. Gadyar started getting more and more angry.
“Give me the sword!” he yelled.
Zane charged at him and slashed. He felt the sword guiding his movements as the voice had said. But Gadyar seemed invincible. He would not go down. Zane gave up with the fruitless attempt, and snatched Ed.
“Go, GO!” he screamed.
He led Ed outside the house, where they were greeted by a group of soldiers. Zane attacked with the sword like there was no tomorrow. He slashed, stabbed, parried, and dodged. The soldiers put up little resistance. Zane and Ed ran out of the town and down the road. They didn’t stop until they reached the cover of the forest.
“What happened?” Ed asked, gasping for breath.
“Gadyar has been possessed. He is the evil I am hear to fight. He wanted the blade. We need to get to the castle.”
“You’ll have to be more specific.”
“The one we saw in the vision. Someone there contacted me, and told me to come there. They also told me about this sword, and Gadyar.”
“Okay. Now calm down. We can make camp here for the night, and continue to the castle in the morning. I will also try to train you in magic as we travel, but for now, have a good night’s sleep. You’ll need it.”
Zane made a bed out of some pine needles lying nearby and was soon asleep.

Dang. That was really well-constructed and lengthy. I like how it is sort of a hibrid between He-Man and Game of Thrones, with magic and sorcery being the root of story. Watch out for wether the sentence is a question or not, I saw some periods on some questions. Other than that it was beast!
cool
This was sooooooo interesting and I want to read more!!!! It was xgreat. All of the sorcery and magic really gave way for the rest of the story to play out. And the magic ability test.....ha....if you pass you still have to take more. Story of my life! Your imagination it amazing. Great detail too.
This probably took you forever. It's hard to understand what's happening but it is still really good
I really like this righting. I got really excited to read when you said “We’re going to test you for magical ability,”I was really excited to read on!
Thanks for all the feedback guys. If you have any suggestions, I'd be happy to include them.
Veni Vidi Vici, once again, great writing. As you progress in this development of the story, think about adding more characters than just Zane and Ed. A "band of misfits," if you will. It would also be cool to to back the events happening in Algasia to Earth somehow. Keep it up.
Exciting story. I took awhile to get into part 1, but part 2 really had me hooked. Your writing style, ability and imagination are impressive. There was some dialogue that had me laugh out loud.
I liked the previous suggestion about having the story relate back to Earth. I am excited to read the next installments.
Love this exciting fantasy writing! You are an outstanding writer with an extraordinary imagination!
Looking forward to read on...
